How does registration work?
You download the registration form, or we can send it to you upon request. You fill it out accordingly and return it to us (via email or mail). We will then contact you. If admissions are available for your desired grade level, we will schedule an appointment for an interview.

When are children admitted/enrolled?
Admissions are possible at any time, subject to availability. Please schedule an appointment for an admissions interview, which will be attended by your child and, if possible, both parents. During the initial consultation, important questions will be clarified, mutual expectations will be discussed, and you will have the opportunity to observe our concept in action. We will also provide information about tuition and maintenance fees and, if necessary, advise you on tuition fee reductions.

When must/can I register my child?
You can register your child at any time using the registration form above. Registration and the admission interview are non-binding. Only the school contract signed by both parties after the admission interview will secure your place at the school.

How are the children assessed?
Through detailed semi-annual learning development reports, which specifically describe the child’s strengths and weaknesses in each subject area and, in conjunction with the development discussions, highlight their progress. Students learn to self-assess using competency tables and are comprehensively assessed by teachers. This provides students and parents with a very detailed insight into the demands of the program and its performance. In addition, the percentages in the competency tables are translated into grades starting in grade 5, which then appear on the report card alongside the respective educational program.

Do you offer childcare during the holidays?
Childcare is generally available daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. UNIVERSITAS is closed only 10 working days per year. Holiday care is included in the tuition fee for elementary school students. Students in grades 5 and 6 can participate in holiday care if needed.

Are there opportunities for reduced tuition fees or scholarships?
Yes. Every child is allowed to attend UNIVERSITAS, as long as the capacity and the teachers’ assessment allow it. Each student is free to apply for a reduced tuition fee. Of course, this requires disclosure of their income and family circumstances.

How else can I reduce my financial burden?
1. Pay less taxes.
Consult your tax advisor in detail about how you can reduce your tax burden by deducting school fees. You can usually get a portion back from the tax authorities.
2. Take advantage of sibling discounts .
To limit the burden on families, we offer sibling discounts for the second UNIVERSITAS child attending school at the same time.

What costs will I have to pay in addition to the monthly tuition?
All activities and materials (except for a full pencil case and school bag) are included in the tuition. In addition, there is a one-time enrollment fee (€565), monthly maintenance costs (€130), and expenses for school trips, class trips, and field trips.

What do I need to get for the start of school?
You’ll be responsible for the school bag, a full pencil case, and sufficient school uniforms, which you can order through our office or online. Students will receive all work materials from the school.

What does school uniform include?
Since it’s not a school uniform, we offer a wide selection. Tops and trousers, or a skirt and jacket, are mandatory. School uniforms are blue, gray, beige, or white. They are worn every day. Each student can choose what they feel most comfortable in.

What facilities does the school offer?
The design of the buildings, the school’s facilities, and the teaching and learning materials used are aligned with the modern concept. We offer students and staff an aesthetically pleasing environment and ergonomic furniture. High-performance Wi-Fi is available in the school buildings and on the schoolyard. In addition, state-of-the-art devices are used in everyday school life, such as desktop PCs, tablets, notebooks, and interactive whiteboards.

Who owns the school?
The sole shareholder and thus owner of UNIVERSITAS gGmbH, as well as the buildings and land used, is a Rostock-based educational association: the European Foundation for Innovative Education (EuSiB). EuSiB is dedicated to promoting education and culture. In addition to Circus Fantasia, the association also includes the Rostock Workshop School, the Free School Rerik, the “Step by Step” kindergarten, a vocational school for social work (Pädagogisches Kolleg Rostock), and a research and innovation center. EuSiB is also home to four support associations and a sports club. The affiliated companies of the EuSiB Group care for approximately 1,200 children, adolescents, and young adults. The group employs approximately 220 people.

Is it true that independent schools have more money at their disposal than state schools?
No. Unfortunately, the opposite is true.
Independent schools fulfill the public educational mandate, but receive no state funding for the first three years of their existence.
After that, they only receive funding amounting to an average of approximately 85% of the costs incurred for teacher salaries at state schools. There are no subsidies for the costs of all management and organizational activities (management, school administration, secretarial services, etc.) or for consumption costs (teaching materials, supplies, heating, electricity, water, etc.). Only a fraction of the required funds are granted as subsidies for necessary land (schoolyard) and buildings.
Therefore, independent schools generally have significantly fewer financial resources at their disposal than state schools. Therefore, independent schools must charge tuition fees and are also dependent on the support of partners.
