Parent feedback after the 1st Corona lockdown in spring 2020
“Dear UNIVERSITAS team,
Connor’s father
“You and your team care a lot about the children and also about working with the parents.”
Parents of Maximilian and Juliane
“For almost 10 years, we have been privileged to accompany ‘our’ school from the very beginning. The all-day school concept, with its extensive and modern facilities and childcare hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., intrigued us from the very beginning and has won us over over the years.”
Manuela Balan:
“Close and, above all, early cooperation between schools and companies creates a wide range of opportunities. The general education all-day school ‘UNIVERSITAS’ is one of the most active and committed.”
Martin French
“The UNIVERSITAS (…) can undoubtedly be described as one of the most modern and innovative schools in the Rostock metropolitan area and in the entire federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.”
Connor’s grandmother on the occasion of the final show of the 2015/16 school year:
“I was able to be there, and it was simply fantastic! The students put in a fantastic program and were so passionate about it. Thank you to everyone! Thanks
also to all the teachers – you could tell they put their heart into their work!
The whole concept is simply world-class, and everyone can be proud to attend UNIVERSITAS.
I also wish all the teachers and students a wonderful and relaxing summer break.”
Quotes from feedback forms:
“We hoped that Ben would enjoy going to school and look forward to it every day. That’s definitely true. We’re also amazed at how much he’s already learned in such a short time. At his (old) daycare, his thirst for knowledge and curiosity were only partially satisfied. Things are completely different at UNIVERSITAS.”
“Hannes is challenged, but not overwhelmed. He always enjoys going to school, has already achieved and experienced a lot, and has many friends. I’m very happy.”
“The transition from daycare worked out great.”
“A calm, family-like atmosphere, competent, relaxed supervisors and teachers with a warm, welcoming attitude. Great!”
“We feel that Marlin has matured. He seems much more balanced.”
Jan’s mother
“Good morning to the holiday care team! A heartfelt thank you and a hats off to your program and its implementation.
Jan is so enthusiastic that he absolutely wants to go to the care center and has declined the option of staying with grandma and grandpa (right on the beach! On the water!).
It’s great that you make the school holidays an experience for the kids.
(As a child, I always felt sorry for the other children in the “holiday games”; maybe that was a mistake and I missed something…)”
Sampo’s father (family now lives back in Finland)
“Sampo had a wonderful time here at school. He learned a lot and made many friends.
Ms. Adler is an outstanding teacher, the best we’ve ever met. Thank you very much!”
Quotes from the elective class “Herbal Studies”
Dilara (2nd grade): “Herbs” is cool, I enjoy it a lot, and I’m learning a lot. I love Ms. Dorn, she’s the best in the world. Leni (SEKL): I think herbs are great. Please continue with herbal studies, Ms. Dorn. Yours, Leni
Student Hauke, who supports the school newspaper team:
“I was surprised by how good the spelling of both girls (in the 3rd grade) actually is and how well the free writing works…”
A mother (child in second grade)
“The teachers are a very important reason why the children are in such good hands. Their primary job is to educate them, with everything that comes with it (cuddling, settling arguments, ensuring the children’s well-being). This is also important during recess, and in my opinion, teachers have a better understanding of this than teachers – after all, they have other things to do.
This doesn’t exist in state schools, and for me as a parent, that’s a huge plus.”
“Although we parents put a lot of thought into it and invest a lot of time, effort, and love in our child, we were unable to help him with his very difficult kindergarten routine. He had many problems, even requiring an integration assistant right before he started school.
When I look at him today, his development since starting school has been a huge success!
I would therefore prefer if nothing were changed.”
Mara & Dilara, Class 2, on/on a very elaborately designed blackboard picture:
“Hello Universitas, we are two UNIVERSITAS children and this is for our school, for the best school in the world.”
Father of Maximilian S. (Grade 6)
“…I would also like to commend Max for his excellent development. This ranges from completing homework and lesson preparations completely naturally and independently at all times to his significantly improved self-confidence…he also largely recognizes and corrects performance deficits on his own.
When he transferred to UNIVERSITAS after first grade, he could barely read and his writing was unsatisfactory. That changed very quickly. Last year, he won the school’s reading competition. …now he often reads two books at once…is the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper…He can represent his point of view very well and express himself excellently—with an astonishing vocabulary…I am also particularly pleased that his creativity is supported and encouraged as much as possible and that he also bears the appropriate responsibility…
My sincere thanks go to the entire UNIVERSITAS team for this.”
Maxim’s mother
“Thank you so much for the wonderful days you all made possible for the children. Maxim enjoyed them to the fullest. All in all, he was tired, dirty, happy, and very, very relaxed every evening. We had a wonderful start to the ‘real’ holidays.”
Paul’s parents
“We are impressed by the new school building, its architecture and construction, its openness, and its brightness. We also appreciate the transparency of the learning levels.
We really like the fact that we can turn to Paul’s class teacher at any time with specific concerns and that we receive support and/or straightforward clarification for any confusion or questions. The same applies to the principal. We see that Paul’s needs are recognized and that he is given the opportunity to grow at his own pace. He is clear about what is important to him and expresses his needs openly. We see that he takes responsibility for his actions, which we consider essential for growing up. He also pursues his desire to contribute differently now than he did last school year.”
Leni, Grade 4
“I love going to UNIVERSITAS because I have a lot of friends and the teachers are nice.
I can’t think of any improvements.”
Paul, Grade 6
“I have very nice teachers. They are friendly and humorous. If there are situations that require criticism, then it’s resolved as soon as it’s resolved. My teachers don’t hold grudges.
My friends at school are important to me and bring me joy.
Classes are fun. Right now, everything, without exception, is fun.
The new classrooms appeal to me, and I look forward to my classroom, my classmates, and my teachers every morning. I’m happy at school because I can pursue my musical interests. Specifically, that’s piano lessons at the moment, and hopefully, the opportunity to learn drums in the future.”
Jessica’s parents
“Now, our brief feedback on the past few weeks. It was a very good decision on all of our part to have Jessica attend this school starting this school year. She enjoys going there because there’s a fantastic team of teachers. This excellent relationship between teachers, students, and parents simply won us over, and we’re very happy about it. The only thing Jessica doesn’t like is the dance class (it’s more acting than dancing). We believe that dance classes should only be offered as a voluntary activity. It would be more appropriate to teach a “normal” subject.”
Adrian’s father
“We also really enjoyed the shell celebration – the new building offers perspective not only to the students, but also to the parents and the teaching staff. Furthermore, UNIVERSITAS is setting a visible and positive example for Rostock as a city that values education and careers – football alone isn’t enough and has been counterproductive in recent years… Adrian was also very impressed; he especially thought the fact that the new school building will even have an elevator was great – of course, not without ulterior motives for future recess activities.”
Maximilian, 9th grade
“At school, you simply have a very intense learning experience – because the teachers always listen to us students.”
Father of Max, 6th grader
“The concept was a perfect fit for us. Plus, the location is great, and the parents have a say, too.”
Mother of Alexia, Grade 2
“…I would first like to take this opportunity to tell you once again that we are very happy that Alexia can attend such a wonderful school, where there are numerous opportunities for learning, experiences, etc., and above all, all this in a friendly, violence-free environment. As parents, we have not regretted the financial burden so far, as we also see that the money goes directly to the school (equipment, etc.) and is therefore well invested. Alexia has been very well received, especially as a person, recognized, supported, and respected. Thank you again to you and to Ms. Nölting!”
Edgar, 4th grade, exchange student from Paris
“…I think it’s great about UNIVERSITAS that the kitchen makes its own breakfast. You don’t have to bring your own.
And I also think it’s great that your school offers cookies and a glass of milk in the afternoon at coffee time.
And in class, you had to find solutions and not know everything by heart. That was unusual.
I also liked the lockers and the long recess.
The school is simply extraordinary!”
Johannes, 1st grade
When asked what kind of school uniform he wears: “Well, that’s the UNIVERSITAS uniform… The best school in the world!!!”
